"Progressive post-punk" is perhaps the best way to describe PALAIS IDEAL's distinctive sound. Drawing deeply from the spirit of 1980s post-punk and new wave, John Edwards (vocals, guitar, synths) and Richard van Kruysdijk (bass, drums, synths, backing vocals) have crafted a style of their own--evolving with each release. Since forming in 2017, PALAIS IDEAL have toured extensively across Europe and the UK, sharing stages with acts like Wire and Clan of Xymox and steadily building a dedicated following.
After being forced to reschedule their European tour three times during the pandemic, John and Richard turned their focus inward--to the studio. The result is their brand-new album, HERE & NOW--the duo's fourth full-length release. This record highlights the energetic edge the NL/UK pair are known for in their powerful live shows. Following earlier collaborations with producers like John Fryer (Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode, NIN) and Pete Burns (Kill Shelter), HERE & NOW was produced by Pieter Kloos (Motorpsycho), bringing a fresh sonic intensity to their work.
